Aircraft type, model and year: the FAA aircraft registry, registry.faa.gov, a public record of the Federal Aviation Administration, read per request and never for the registrant. The FAA does not endorse this studio. How the line is read.
The styles are named for traditions and decades, never for a living artist: the airmail and airline posters of the 1930s, the pulp covers, the wartime magazine gouache, the painted panel, the calendar painting of the 1950s, the general arrangement drawing, the approach chart, the pilot’s handbook figure, the oil, the watercolour and the nocturne.
The sample aircraft
The three aircraft on the wall, a high-wing, a low-wing and a warbird, are made up. Their photographs were generated for this studio, their registrations N728HW, N47TQ and N51TQ were not assigned on the FAA register on 17 October 2026, and their badges are shapes with no letters. Every painting of them was made with the same prompt a customer’s photograph gets.
Type
Barlow Semi Condensed by Jeremy Tribby and Public Sans by the United States Web Design System, both under the SIL Open Font License, served from this site. The type desk’s period faces are open-licence faces from Google Fonts.
Print and payment
Prints are made and shipped by Prodigi. Payments are taken by Stripe. Neither endorses this studio. Painted Flight is part of the Painted.App family; the Painted Hulls studio paints boats and Painted Motors paints cars, and the badge rule here is the one Painted Motors wrote first.
